Perform in the IABF Showcase

Join the IABF Corps de Ballet, and choose your own solo, duet, or small-group piece to bring to the stage.

You are invited to perform!

For all the dancers who wonder "what's the point of dancing if all I can do is go to ballet class? It's not like adults can perform," and for the people who shyly admit their dream of "performing on stage in pointe shoes one day"

…. IABF is for you! That time is here!

You (yes, YOU) are invited to perform on stage.

Whether you’ve got your heart set on a solo, being in the corps de ballet, or putting together a group piece with your friends, all dancers are invited. You’re welcome to perform en pointe or not, in a fancy costume or something simple, something advanced or something beginner.

Or, if you’ve dreamt of the thrill of competition, choose to enter your piece into the competitive division to win prizes.

How the performance works

All dancers are invited to be in the show! You do not need to be advanced to join us. If you’d like to perform a solo, simply choose a piece of choreography that fits your level. And, all dancers are invited to join our finale group piece! Learn more below.

Entering the competition division is optional!

You’re welcome to perform WITHOUT competing! The competition division blends seamlessly into the show.

Prepare your Own Solo, Duet, or Small Group Piece

All levels are welcome to join and perform. Yes, beginners, too!

Simply select the choreography of your choice that suits your level and abilities.

Your piece may be:

  • A classical variation

  • Original choreography

  • Contemporary or lyrical

  • En pointe or not

Your piece(s) can be a solo, duet, or a group of your friends, as long as all participants are registered for the festival.

Each dancer has 5 1/2 minutes on stage.

You don't need to use all of it, but you may divide this time into 1, 2 or 3 pieces. Each single piece must be less than 3 minutes and 15 seconds.

If you dream of performing a solo or small group piece, but you don’t have a teacher or the ability to choreograph it yourself, we’ll gladly connect you with a teacher to arrange to help you rehearse and prepare your piece remotely!

How it works

Step 1: Dancers choose a part that they want to perform. They can even specify if they want to be in the front or the back.

Step 2: Dancers receive custom instructional videos for their part all taught from the back view.

Step 3: Dancers receive a version of the music with clapping and counting over top to easily understand the timing of the music during practice.

Step 4: Dancers receive moving diagrams to see and understand the stage formations that you will create.

Step 5: We meet for live Zoom rehearsals to help dancers with any steps, answer questions, and help you prepare. We are all in it together and you will be supported every step of the way!

Step 6: During IABF, we rehearse the staging and spacing together and prepare to perform.
